La Esperanza is the name of this unique spot of natural beauty that lies on the eastern ridge of the foothill extending from the plateau to the northern airport.
We’ll take a leisurely trip by taxi to the starting point at approximately 1000m above sea level. Our route starts from well-marked trails that run up the road to the jungle of laurels. We’ll cross the eucalyptus forests and continue ascending the mountain via a path towards the south of the island, allowing us to drive along a beautiful winding path until we reach an altitude of 1400m. Here it’s time for a well-deserved rest in the tavern-refuge of Las Lagunetas where we’ll taste all kinds of homemade Canarian specialties. Our route will continue towards the south of the island along a path that ascends progressively, and we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Gran Canaria and the Güímar Valley. After having crossed approximately 12km we’ll cross the crest of the mountain, along wide and not too steep paths from an altitude of 1700 meters towards Puerto de la Cruz to return to the bike station.
